The Interviewee Charity Screening, Hackney, London

Sorry, Internet: I lied.

Way back in the heady days of November I said that you would hear no more about The Interviewee. After a year since its creation and with a prestigious awards nomination or two the time felt right to put the old boy out to pasture. But as the wise Don Michael Corleone observed, “Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in!”

Last week I received a very nice email from Balik Arts, a London based charity originally set up to work with Turkish speaking children and young people in the arts. It has since expanded its remit to include children and young people from a variety of background. The charity also works to help and facilitate work of artists, bringing both emerging and established artists together to exhibit their work and also involve give parents a more sympathetic approach towards arts. On Saturday 12th March they are running a ‘Film and More’ including wall art, stand-up comedy, live music, a DJ and short film screenings followed by q&a where possible. They have asked whether they can screen The Interviewee at the event, and I am only too happy to oblige.

Regrettably I will be unable to attend the event myself, but I will be providing a specially recorded video q & a about the film so that I shall be there in spirit. Should you be in the vicinity of Cafe Mostra in Hackney, do pop along to enjoy the music, art, comedy and films.

Balik Arts “Film and More” Event, takes place Saturday 12th March, 7pm-1am, Cafe Mostra, 86 Stoke Newington High Street, Greater London, N16 7PA.
